4 Tips for Working Remotely

As companies are shifting to remote work, we wanted to share a few quick tips that can help you be more effective as you start working from home.

1. Security

Our first tip is on security. You want to make sure that as you are working from home, you are keeping up with the same security measures that you would be if you were working in the office. For example, you need to make sure your organization is using a secure VPN. This will help keep criminals from getting their hands on your company’s data.

Secondly, you’ll want to double-check that your firewall at your office is set up correctly. This way, as you access files through your server, everything stays clean and secure.

2. Connectivity

Another thing you are going to want to think about when working from home is your connectivity. How good is your internet? Do you have the bandwidth you need to access, upload, and download any necessary files?

You may need to contact your internet provider to improve your connectivity while you are working from home.

3. Productivity

Our third tip has to do with general productivity. When you are working from home, you are surrounded by distractions. From your spouse to kids, pets, or even food, there are so many things that can pull your attention away from your work.

A few simple steps to help you stay productive during this time include:

  • Setting up a dedicated workspace
  • Making sure you stick to a schedule
  • Keeping your normal morning routine

These small steps can help you stay on task and focused throughout the day.

4. Culture

Lastly, when an entire organization is working from home, maintaining your company culture can seem difficult, if not impossible. However, even though your culture might be changing throughout this time, you can continue to cultivate a strong culture, even while working remotely, with the use of technology.

For example, Microsoft Teams is a tool that will allow you to chat, call, and video conference with your team members at home. You can easily share files and work on projects together, just as if you were in the office.

We know this transition can seem challenging, but we can all do this together, and Executech is here to help. To find more tips on working from home, read our blog here!
